Michael Keane expects Wayne Rooney to get a great reception when he returns to Old Trafford with Everton

Michael Keane says Everton's recent form will be forgotten if they can get a result at Manchester United on Super Sunday.

Ronald Koeman's side hit the ground running on the back of an active transfer window, winning four straight games before securing a point at Manchester City.

But they are now four without a win and were well beaten at home by Tottenham on Saturday ahead of a week featuring trips to Atalanta and Old Trafford.

Koeman is yet to lose a Premier League game at United in three years in England, and Keane told Sky Sports News: "We've got to focus on ourselves and make sure we're doing all we can to get this result.

"If we can get a positive result I'm sure the fans will be a lot happier again. That's how easy it can be turned around."

Everton 0-3 Tottenham

Sunday's game takes Keane back to the club where he learned his trade as a trainee, making five first-team appearances before moving on to Burnley in 2014.

Lining up alongside the centre-half will be a higher-profile ex-United player: Wayne Rooney won five league titles and a Champions League before ending a 13-year stay as the club's record goalscorer.

"I think he'll get a fantastic reception," Keane said. "I think the fans there realise how good he's been for the club and everything he's won there, so I wouldn't expect anything other than massive applause."
