Ronald Koeman acknowledged Everton were taught a footballing lesson as they were thrashed 5-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The Toffees were second best throughout and could have lost a one-sided contest by an even greater margin.
"It's a big lesson for everybody today," said Koeman. "Chelsea showed us a very high level of football in every aspect.
"How aggressive you need to play, quality on the ball, winning second balls, there was a big difference. I did not expect that difference on the pitch but it happened.
"It's good for everybody to see; quality, technical players, how they work, run and press. We can learn from that and, finally, it's my job to change the team or the players if I think I need to."
While Everton looked well below-par, the hosts were in inspired form, with Eden Hazard capping off a fine display with two goals.
And Koeman said he was impressed with Chelsea, who have won five league games in a row without conceding a goal since switching to three at the back.
"They score a lot, don't concede, which are reasons enough for them that's it the best way for them," he said. "Some key players in that team are showing their highest level of football.
"I have never seen a team so strong playing out of their system, it's a very difficult system to play against, the movement of Hazard, [Diego] Costa, Pedro…the manager has brought a winning mentality to the players.
"They look very hungry every game and if they keep going they will fight for the title."
Asked how his side will bounce back from the defeat following the international break, Koeman added: "Everybody is very disappointed, but it's only three points. But of course we need to react and show today was not our level, that we can be better."
