Everton are expected to return with an improved offer for Swansea captain Ashley Williams, according to Sky sources.

The Toffees - under new ownership and new management from Ronald Koeman - had a bid of around £10m recently rejected by the Swans.

A Swansea spokesman subsequently insisted that their long-term club captain is not for sale but Sky sources understand Everton remain very interested despite the Welsh club's stance.

And another source has Sky Sports News HQ that Swansea could be lured into negotiations with an offer of around £15m.

Everton remain in discussions with Manchester City about the potential £50m sale of John Stones to the Etihad, and Koeman sees Williams as the ideal replacement.

But a Swansea spokesman said earlier this week: "Ashley Williams is an important part of our squad and club and we are not looking to sell him, and therefore we have turned down the offer currently on the table."
