Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits he could manage England one day

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits there is nothing stopping him "one day" managing England after 20 years at Arsenal.

Wenger is inside the final year of his Arsenal deal and has maintained that he will not break his contract at the club.

However, having said he was flattered to again be linked with the England job following the departure of Allardyce, Wenger gave further indication he would consider a call from the Football Association.

Wenger, who handed out gifts to the media to celebrate his 20-year anniversary in charge of Arsenal, told his press conference: "My priority is to do well here. This has always been my club. If I am free one day, why not? But I am concentrated on my job."

The Gunners sit third in the Premier League table and having not secured the title since 2004, Wenger admitted he is still looking to improve after two decades at the club, revealing he has altered his approach in recent years.

"I have a passion for the game but I have the desire to be better tomorrow and yesterday," he said. "The way I manage today is not the same today as five years ago. How long can I do, I don't know. I rule nothing out because I want to work and do well. I accept as well that it can finish tomorrow. You expect a love story to last forever."

Wenger had initially feared he would be without Francis Coquelin, having said the midfielder is facing three weeks out after he was forced to leave the field in the 32nd minute of the Gunners' 3-0 victory over Chelsea at the Emirates last weekend.

However, although Coquelin remains a doubt for this weekend's clash, the 25-year-old could return to action much earlier than expected, though striker Olivier Giroud remains a long-term concern.

"Giroud will be out - he will not come back," said Wenger. "Coquelin is looking much better than expected. He will have a test today but I think he will be short for Sunday. His medial knee ligament was not damaged, as we thought, and he is keen to start again.

Gary Cotterill takes a look at Arsene Wenger's 20 years in charge of Arsenal

"He had a session yesterday but we have to be cautious too. We have plenty of games coming up. For us now we work in cycles of three, week by week, we have done well against Chelsea and Basel so we need to finish the week.

"[Aaron] Ramsey is out of the Wales squad - he should be available after the break."
