Santi Cazorla edged closer to an Arsenal return after helping the club's U21 side to a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at the Emirates.
The Spanish midfielder played for an hour and claimed an assist in the victory, which secured Arsenal's place in the final of the U21 Premier League Division Two promotion play-offs.
Cazorla is looking to return to first-team action before the end of the Premier League campaign after picking up a knee injury against Norwich in November.
His return from that was delayed by an Achilles problems, with manager Arsene Wenger revealing he had hoped to include Cazorla in his squad to face Norwich in the reverse fixture on Saturday.
The 31-year-old did not make the 1-0 win over the Canaries but did start alongside Tomas Rosicky and Calum Chambers for the young side on Tuesday evening, raising hopes he could play some part in the final two games of the season.
Arsenal travel to Manchester City on Super Sunday, before completing their league campaign at home to Aston Villa on May 15.
Wenger and goalkeeper Petr Cech were in attendance at the game to watch the U21 side claim victory, with Chris Willock striking twice for the Gunners.
