Virgil van Dijk will sit out the Netherlands' friendly with Belgium in order to fully recover from a recent rib injury.
The national team captain both played and scored in the 3-0 UEFA Nations victory over Germany on Saturday, but will play no part against the World Cup semi-finalists.
Van Dijk scored the opening goal of the game, before strikes from Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum wrapped up all three points in an impressive performance in Amsterdam.
The defender sustained a rib injury while playing for Liverpool against his former club Southampton last month.
And after consultation with fitness staff it was decided Van Dijk would not be included in the match-day squad to face Belgium, the Netherlands announced via a statement.
The 27-year-old will now have additional time to regain full fitness before returning to domestic action with Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp's side resume their Premier League activity on Saturday, October 20 when they travel to Huddersfield.
