Jurgen Klopp expects Liverpool v Manchester City to be another thriller

Jurgen Klopp says he expects Manchester City to fight just as hard against Liverpool in this season's meeting, as the Premier League's top two sides prepare to battle it out on Sunday.

Liverpool have won the last three matches against Pep Guardiola's team, including January's 4-3 thriller at Anfield which brought an end to City's 22-game unbeaten run.

The champions had been trailing 4-1 after three goals in 10 minutes from Liverpool's front three of Roberto Firminho, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, but City refused to give up and almost caused the ultimate shock by scoring twice late on.

City lost just once more as they eased clear of their nearest challengers, but this weekend's game sees the visitors ahead in the table on goal difference and with both sides unbeaten in the league so far.

"In the 4-3 [game], they were really good and they won before that 60 or 70 games in a row, or that is how it felt.

"They never gave up, even when they were 4-1 down and that made them really special last year.

"I expect them to be like this again. They are really going for results.

"Last year, we won the last three games against City, twice in the Champions League and once in the league.

"After these games, you don't go into the dressing room and think 'now we have got it, now we know how to beat City', because there is no real way or one thing that you have to do.

"You have to be ready and have a fantastic football team. Thankfully, I have that, with outstanding character, ready to be brave and ready to make mistakes in a very difficult game against an outstanding opponent.

"It can work. That is all we need to know.

"When somebody says to me, 'good luck for Sunday', I think unfortunately we need it."
