Liverpool have confirmed Naby Keita is 'fine' after leaving the pitch in Napoli on a stretcher.
The midfielder went down in the 19th minute and was seen clutching his back, before requiring immediate medical attention.
Liverpool confirmed Keita had been taken to a local hospital in Naples for health checks, and have now offered a further update on the situation.
"Keita was transferred to a local hospital with the club doctor, where - with the midfielder's agreement - he underwent a number of precautionary health checks to assess his condition," Liverpool announced following the defeat.
Keita was assessed for back pain and injury, and will make his way back to Merseyside with the squad as initially planned.
Liverpool are refusing to rule out the player for Sunday's crunch showdown with fellow title rivals Manchester City, live on Sky Sports.
Following the defeat Jurgen Klopp admitted his side were simply not good enough while claiming responsibility for the final score.
Liverpool remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season, after seven games played. They currently sit level at the top of the table with Sunday's visitors City.
