Liverpool's Mohamed Salah says he and manager Jurgen Klopp have been "very close friends" ever since he arrived at Anfield in the summer.

Klopp made Salah his first signing of the summer from Roma in June for a fee of £34.4m, with the Egypt international experiencing great success in his first season - finishing as Premier League Golden Boot winner.

Salah's influence has also lead Liverpool to their seventh European Cup final - they play Real Madrid in Kiev on Saturday - and the former Chelsea winger has heaped praise on his boss ahead of that game.

"From the first day, we were friends - he treated me like a friend so we are very close to each other, but still he is the boss and I am the player," said Salah.

"As a coach - as you can see - everyone knows him."
