All the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Thursday, January 18.

Liverpool want to sign Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez , who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, according to reports in Don Balon.

The Merseysiders are understood to view the Colombia international as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona earlier in the January transfer window.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are refusing to let Ben Woodburn join his former Wales manager Chris Coleman on loan at Sunderland, reports The Sun.

The young forward has only been a bit-part player under boss Jurgen Klopp at Anfield so far this season.

Meanwhile, the Reds have rejected an offer from Sevilla to take Daniel Sturridge on loan for the remainder of the campaign, says the Daily Mail.

The injury-plagued striker is desperate for regular playing time between now and the end of the season in order to be on the plane with England for this summer's World Cup.

The Daily Telegraph report that Inter Milan are also wanting to take Sturridge on a six-month loan deal.

The same paper claims that Jon Flanagan's Liverpool future is under serious threat after the defender was sentenced to a 12-month community order on Wednesday for assaulting his girlfriend.
