Liverpool do not believe a thigh injury picked up by James Milner in the friendly against Leicester is serious but he is a doubt for next week's Audi Cup.
The midfielder-turned-left-back will be assessed and train away from the first team this week after being withdrawn from the 2-1 Asia Trophy final victory on Saturday.
Liverpool face Hertha Berlin at the Olympiastadion before their first Audi Cup Clash against Bayern Munich next week and Milner has not yet been ruled out of those games.
But the club said: "James Milner will be monitored by Liverpool's medical team over the coming days after feeling discomfort in his quad during the Premier League Asia Trophy final against Leicester City.
"The vice-captain, who was substituted late in the first half of Saturday's friendly victory in Hong Kong, reported to Melwood on Monday for tests.
"Early assessments show that Milner's problem is not serious, but the number seven will complete a specific training programme this week in order to manage his availability to Jurgen Klopp before re-joining his teammates in their full pre-season schedule."
The Reds then complete their pre-season schedule by taking on Athletic Bilbao in Dublin on August 5.
