Jurgen Klopp felt new signing Marko Grujic enjoyed a "dream debut" in the Reds' 5-0 friendly win over Fleetwood.
Grujic was on target, alongside Ben Woodburn, Lucas Leiva and a Roberto Firmino brace, in the comfortable victory for Klopp's side against the Sky Bet League One outfit.
The Serbian international, a £5.1m signing from Red Star Belgrade, also won a penalty - which Danny Ings missed - and hit the post on a lively first outing for his new club.
It was a performance which got a resounding thumbs-up from his new manager, Klopp.
"He scored a goal in his first game in the first situation - it's a dream," said the German coach.
"You saw it, in a friendly game not often a player celebrates like him but obviously it was a big moment. It was nice to see.
"He is still a young lad - he is 20 years old and that means there is a lot to develop physically and, of course, in the football parts.
"We are ready to work with the boys, they will improve - and they have to improve - but for the first game it was absolutely fine."
