Burnley have agreed to a request from Liverpool to switch their home and away Premier League fixtures this season.
The teams' first meeting, originally scheduled for Anfield on August 20, will now take place at Turf Moor on the same date with a 3pm kick-off.
Anfield will host the return fixture on March 12 at 4pm, subject to television scheduling.
Liverpool asked for the switch because of ongoing work on the reconstruction of the main stand at Anfield.
A club statement released on Thursday read: "The expansion of the main stand will be ready and open to fans for the start of the Premier League season, but the additional days prior to the first home game provided by this switch is a prudent approach to a project of this scale."
A Burnley statement read: "We fully appreciate this fixture swap may cause some inconvenience to a number of supporters, for which we apologise.
"However, we would like reiterate that following the unusual nature of this particular set of circumstances, fixtures are always subject to change."
Liverpool's first home game will now be against champions Leicester on September 10.
