Merseyside Police have warned Liverpool supporters travelling to Basel for the Europa League final not to buy tickets on the black market.
Jurgen Klopp's side take on two-time champions Sevilla at St Jakob-Park on Wednesday with an estimated 26,000 Reds fans expected to descend on the Swiss city.
With an allocation of 10,600 for the 35,000-capacity ground, it is expected that the majority of those making the trip will not have tickets to the game.
Chief superintendent Jon Ward is urging those not in possession of a ticket to stay clear of the ground and make full use of the facilities on offer at the Liverpool fan park in the city centre, where the match will be shown live on a big screen.
UEFA normally avoids such events but, along with Basel police, it has taken the decision to beam the match back to the fan park to deter travelling supporters from attempting to make their way to the ground.
Local police have erected a 'ring of steel' 400 metres away from the stadium where anyone without a valid matchday ticket will be turned away.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ Mr Ward said: "My message to fans is if you don't have a ticket make the most of this hospitality, enjoy the atmosphere down town but please do not try to come up to the stadium.
"There are a number of checks which will be in place and if you have counterfeit tickets, forged tickets or no tickets at all you are not going to get through the perimeter check so please do not even try. Stay down town and enjoy it.
"We have been liaising with the Swiss Police for a while now and they understand that a number of fans are going to travel and they are welcoming that.
"They have put on a lot for the fans and understand why they want to be here."
