Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool to have more self-belief after they were pegged back to a 1-1 draw with Tottenham on Saturday Night Football.
Philippe Coutinho gave Liverpool the lead at Anfield in the 51st minute after a one-two with Daniel Sturridge.
But Harry Kane replied for Spurs shortly afterwards and neither side could grab a winner in a frantic final half an hour.
"It's a deserved draw," Liverpool boss Klopp told Sky Sports. "It didn't look like there were six or seven positions in table between us, but if we want to change that situation we have to stay in the game.
"In nearly all moments of the game it's about belief, not attitude, and we are not sure we can beat teams like this all the time. We can, but we didn't show it today and in the end it's only a draw."
There were encouraging signs from Liverpool during an entertaining match as they went close on several occasions.
And while Klopp acknowledged his side let Spurs back into the contest, he saw some positives going forward.
"To become a winner you have to learn," he said. "You get a few knocks - we have had a few this season - but we are on the right track.
"If you only look at results you will say something is wrong, but there is not a lot wrong, we can build on this.
"Defensively over a long period we were really good, we took them out of the game. Their striker and attacking midfielders had no real moments because we were really good, and then we let them back into the game.
"We conceded and have to live with the draw."
