Kolo Toure says Liverpool can save their season by winning the Europa League after their Capital One Cup final defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
The Reds were beaten on penalties at Wembley following a 1-1 draw as Willy Caballero proved to be City's hero with three spot-kick saves in the shoot-out.
Liverpool will have an opportunity to avenge Sunday's defeat when they host City in the Premier League on Wednesday, and inflict a potentially telling blow to their title aspirations.
Jurgen Klopp's side are ninth in the league, nine points adrift of the top four, but are still involved in the Europa League where they will face rivals Manchester United in the round-of-16 clash in March.
"Winning the Europa League can save the season and the Premier League is not done yet," said Toure.
"Of course we have plenty of games coming. We have another Premier League game which is very important. We need to digest this loss and then focus for the game because it will be tough.
"We can get three points against City. The final showed both sides can win."
Toure's future at Liverpool remains uncertain with his contract expiring at the end of the campaign, but he has backed the younger players at the club to learn from Sunday's disappointment.
"You have to learn to lose sometimes before you win," Toure said. "We will learn as a team together to lose and we hope we can win next time."
