Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart feels his part in the club's FA Cup run has proved he is good enough for the Premier League.

The 22-year-old is one of several Anfield squad players who were used in the competition this season, playing all four games after a loan spell with Sky Bet League One club Swindon Town.

Those appearances - the last of which came in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to West Ham - are Stewart's only first-team action for Liverpool, for whom he arrived as an academy player from Tottenham.

But Stewart is confident he has provided manager Jurgen Klopp with enough evidence of his quality to force his way into his Premier League thoughts.

"There are a lot of positives to take from the FA Cup," he told Liverpoolfc.com. "It's got some of the young players' names out there, showed people what they can do.

"I've waited a very long time for this so it's a bit of relief to finally show what I can do. Most of my career, the games I've played well in have been against younger players and players my age.

"It's nice to prove to myself I can cope with the Premier League players and do well against them.

"It makes it much more competitive and I think I thrive in competitive situations. When a lot of players come back to fitness, we need to fight more, and I think that's why I'm going to improve."
