Striker Jerome Sinclair has told Liverpool he wants to leave the club in January to secure more first-team opportunities, Sky sources understand.
The 19-year-old has six months remaining on his contract and Liverpool are believed to be holding out for a £3m fee for a player who has reportedly attracted interest from Watford.
Sinclair has been with Liverpool since the age of 14 and became the club's youngest player when he made his first-team debut in their Capital One Cup clash with West Brom in the 2012-13 season.
He made two Premier League appearances last season and also played in this season's FA Cup third-round clash with Exeter City, scoring his first senior goal in the 2-2 draw at St James' Park.
Liverpool continue to be reportedly linked with forwards, including Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira, which would be another roadblock to Sinclair securing a regular place in Jurgen Klopp's squad.
A number of scouts were reported to be in attendance when Sinclair scored one of Liverpool's goals in their 2-0 win over Tottenham in the U21 Premier League on Monday night.
