Steven Gerrard has welcomed the return to fitness of Jon Flanagan and says Liverpool have missed the full-back.
The 23-year-old made his comeback from a 19-month lay-off when he featured for Liverpool's Under-21s in a friendly three weeks ago.
Flanagan has endured a nightmare spell on the sidelines following two separate knee operations but could now play his first competitive game for the Reds since May 2014.
Manager Jurgen Klopp revealed on Tuesday that Flanagan would return on the bench against League Two side Exeter City in Wednesday night's FA Cup third-round replay at Anfield, providing he can come through Liverpool's final pre-match training session.
Reds legend Gerrard took to Instagram to welcome his former team-mate back.
"So happy to see this fella close to returning to fitness," wrote Gerrard.
"He has put so much graft in to get himself back fit. I'm sure Anfield will erupt when he runs back onto the pitch... good luck mate great to see you back and we have missed you."
