Mamadou Sakho will undergo a scan on a knee injury on Monday after he was forced out of Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Sakho was injured when he landed awkwardly following a challenge with Yannick Bolasie during the first half of Sunday's Premier League clash and left Anfield on crutches with his right knee in a brace

The 25-year-old France international centre-back initially tried to continue, but was forced off with the problem five minutes before the half-time break.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says his side were unlucky in defeat to Crystal Palace having played well after a bad start.

Jurgen Klopp admitted after suffering his first defeat in charge of the Reds that losing the centre-back was a major blow.

"I don't know. It's too bad that he couldn't play on, but we have to wait for the scan tomorrow evening, because it needs a little bit of time," said Klopp.

"I don't want to speculate now but we have to hope it is not too serious. That was the worse thing.

"I would prefer to lose 4-1 and keep him in the team but it was the situation and now we have to see."
