Joe Gomez is a doubt for Liverpool's Premier League clash at Tottenham on Saturday after picking up an injury on England U21 duty.

The 18-year-old defender appeared to suffer a blow to his ankle during the U21s' 3-0 Euro 2017 qualifying victory over Kazakhstan on Tuesday and had to be substituted after 80 minutes.

Gomez, who has established himself in Brendan Rodgers' first-team after a summer move from Charlton, appeared to be in considerable pain as he left the field at Coventry's Ricoh Arena.

And he may miss out on the chance to immediately impress new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp ahead of the German's first game in charge at White Hart Lane.

Gomez has made seven appearances for the Merseysiders since joining for £3.5m, and had represented England from U16 to U19s. He has three caps for England's U21s since his debut in August this year.
