Sources at Sky Sports News have suggested Chelsea are interested in signing Marc Guehi after an long-term injury to first team centre back Wesley Fofana

Chelsea want to sign Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi.

The west London club are looking for a replacement for Wesley Fofana, who Enzo Maresca confirmed could miss the rest of the season with a serious hamstring injury.

Newcastle made several attempts to sign Guehi last summer but could not agree a fee with Palace.

The 24-year-old started his career at Chelsea's Cobham academy before joining Palace in an £18m deal in the summer of 2021. Guehi has 18 months remaining on his current deal at Selhurst Park.

Another option being considered by Chelsea is to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Palace.

Keep an eye on departures at Chelsea

Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth:

"Chelsea will always be open to doing business depending if the right opportunity was able to come along. We should also look at potential departures. I'm not saying Chelsea are in danger of breaching PSR but every club will have that lurking in the background.

"They'll be scrambling around to make sure they are not making deals before June 30th, to ensure they can go into the summer and really go for it.

"There could be an opportunity if the right offers were to come to Chelsea for a few of their players to be allowed to leave. I think they will listen to offers for the likes of Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei. Enzo Maresca hasn't made a secret of that. While we speak about Guehi, keep an eye on potential departures at Chelsea."
