Ray Wilkins says Chelsea cannot sell Eden Hazard - amid speculation of a move to Real Madrid - and has compared him to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

Chelsea have to keep Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge and avoid selling him to Real Madrid, says former Blues player and assistant manager Ray Wilkins.

The Belgian has been linked with the Champions League holders ahead of what could be a busy summer for Real after a disappointing La Liga campaign.

But when asked about the prospect of Hazard moving to Spain, Wilkins said: "I couldn't even think of it to be perfectly honest. We've got to keep Hazard at Stamford Bridge.

"There's lots of people who pay lots of money to go and watch Chelsea play. You've got to keep the best players there and Hazard is one of the best. He's one of the best in the world.

"Special players who can just change games in a flash - you've got [Cristiano] Ronaldo, you've got [Lionel] Messi and you've got Hazard. He's a joy to watch."

Hazard has scored 15 goals in 35 appearances for Chelsea this season - making him their top scorer - and Wilkins was full of praise for the 27-year-old's performances.

"I'm a season ticket holder at Chelsea, I'm a Blue, and to watch him play is something exceptional over the last couple of years.

"Conte has allowed him to do his thing. He's one of those guys, when you watch him play, he looks like he's really enjoying himself.

"When he gets on the ball, you think 'wow, something's going to happen now'. He'll eliminate people in the middle of the pitch, he'll create chances. He's just a fantastic footballer."
