Chelsea would have to launch an 'extraordinary offer' to sign Robin van Persie from Fenerbahce, according to Sky sources.
English newspaper reports on Wednesday, five days ahead of the transfer deadline, have suggested the former Arsenal and Manchester United striker could be an option for the Blues.
Although the Netherlands forward, who left United to join Fenerbahce only last summer, is known to be unhappy in Turkey, his representatives say they do not comment on the status of transfers.
Chelsea are keen to bolster their strike-force before the transfer deadline, with a deal to sign Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato on loan moving closer to completion after the player arrived in London.
Out-of-favour France forward Loic Remy is keen to get out to another club on loan, while the Blues have authorised the temporary departure of young Christian Atsu to Malaga until the end of the season.
