Chelsea striker Diego Costa was taken to hospital to have a scan after injuring his shin during the 3-3 draw with Everton at Stamford Bridge.
Costa was replaced by Loic Remy in the 80th minute after hurting himself in a challenge on Leighton Baines.
Interim Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink said: "He's in the hospital and he will have a scan. We don't know the result yet and I hope it's not bad. It's on his shin. He was in a lot of pain, that's true."
Costa had earlier scored in the 64th minute to spark a comeback that saw Chelsea come from 2-0 down to level.
Ramiro Funes Mori restored Everton's lead in the first minute of stoppage time, only for Chelsea captain John Terry to atone for an earlier own goal with a 98th-minute equaliser.
Costa was Chelsea's top scorer last season with 20 goals as they completed a Premier League and League Cup double.
He has yet to recapture that form this time round, but he has scored five goals in his last five appearances to take his tally for the campaign to nine goals in all competitions.
The potential absence of Costa, including in next Sunday's match at Arsenal, could lead to Chelsea making moves in the transfer market, but Hiddink would not be drawn on that prospect.
"For the moment, we are doing nothing [in the transfer market]," the Dutchman said. "We hope Diego comes out the hospital in good health and we go on as we are doing."
