Radamel Falcao strike in Leicester win delights Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said he was delighted to see Radamel Falcao get on the scoresheet in the 3-1 win over Leicester.

Falcao followed up Robin van Persie’s opener to score the hosts’ second, as they rattled in three first-half goals to kill off the game before the break.

That strike takes the Colombian’s tally up to four in the Premier League, and Van Gaal expressed his satisfaction at seeing both his strikers score.

"I am more happy that Falcao was scoring also because Robin has already scored enough goals," he told MUTV.

"Falcao needs that goal more than Robin. It is fantastic that they scored and beautiful goals also - very quick transition, the goal for Falcao, and Robin had a big part in it."

The reverse fixture will go down in Leicester folklore as the Foxes came from behind to take a stunning 5-3 win back in September, and Van Gaal was pleased to avenge that defeat.

"I am very pleased," he said. "We lost the away match and we have taken revenge of that and we have dominated the game, especially in the first half."

“In the second half I said ‘OK, you have to kill the game but also always continue to have your eyes open for a forward pass’.

“I think in that second half we played too much backwards but nevertheless we could have scored two or three goals more, but we didn’t do that then we conceded one – that’s a little bit disappointing because I thought we were the dominant team in the second half.”
