Utd boss denies all knowledge of approach for Mexican midfielder
Sir Alex Ferguson has sought to distance Manchester United from reports suggesting they are looking to tie up a deal for Hector Herrera.
The 22-year-old midfielder caught the eye at the 2012 Olympics while turning out for Mexico.
United were among those said to be keen on bringing a man who collected a gold medal in London to the Premier League.
Herrera is currently turning out in his homeland for Pachuca.
Speculation
Their sporting director, Andres Fassi, claimed that United and Liverpool were battling it out for Herrera's signature, with a switch to England all but guaranteed.
Herrera, though, claims to have no knowledge of an approach and Ferguson has now moved to play down reports linking the youngster with a move to Old Trafford.
"I don't know where that came from," he said.
"Nothing's happening."
