Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Marcus Rashford will "probably" start against Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday.
But United's caretaker manager believes the game may come too soon for Anthony Martial.
Rashford picked up an ankle knock during last Sunday's draw with Liverpool but was fit enough to come off the bench during Wednesday's win at Crystal Palace.
However, Martial has been absent since he suffered a groin injury in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain and, with United 2-0 down and the second leg on the horizon next Wednesday, he may not be chanced this weekend.
Solskjaer said: "We are not going to take any risks.
"Maybe Anthony (could play), but it might just be a few more days before he is ready.
"Probably the squad will look similar to what it did on Wednesday.
"It is a matter of seeing who is available now.
"Marcus said he still felt it (the ankle) Wednesday night but he will be ready. I will probably start him."
United's impressive form continued with a 3-1 win at Palace and full-back Luke Shaw was again one of their most impressive performers.
Shaw has been enjoying an upturn in form and Solskjaer said: "I don't know what I have done differently but he has played and he has got another couple of gears in him, Luke.
"You can see when he decides to drive forward with it, to go into fifth gear, there is no one running quicker than him, he is so sharp off the mark.
"Confidence grows when you play and when you play well, so I have been delighted with his performances."
