Giuseppe Rossi's finishing has impressed even Sir Alex Ferguson since the former Manchester United striker returned to train at the club.
United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed free agent Rossi has been back at Carrington, where Ferguson has been in regular attendance in recent weeks.
Rossi, 31, was handed his first-team debut by Ferguson at United, and played alongside Solskjaer during his three years at Old Trafford.
But the former Italy international is searching for a club after being released by Genoa last summer.
"We're not going to sign Giuseppe I think, no, but he's trained well with us," Solskjaer told United's official website.
"He looks sharp, he's looking for a club so Giuseppe is probably going to stay with us for another week, unless someone takes him.
"He scored a fantastic goal yesterday [Saturday] in training. The gaffer [Sir Alex Ferguson] turned around and said 'what about that son?'
"It's a bit of us helping him to get fit before his next move, so if there are any takers, you should be quick!"
