Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says his Manchester United side showed they are ready to compete after a big win over Tottenham in the Premier League

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed Manchester United's "complete team performance" as they saw off Tottenham 1-0 at Wembley to extend his winning start to six games.

Marcus Rashford scored the winner a minute before half-time but David de Gea stole the plaudits with 11 saves in an impenetrable goalkeeping performance that single-handedly kept Spurs at bay.

Solskjaer acknowledged the impact made by De Gea and Rashford, but thought his whole team were worthy of praise after overcoming the toughest assignment of his tenure.

"Results wise, to come away here and beat Tottenham is fantastic," he told Sky Sports. "We defended well as a team.

"We hung on in the second half and we never got to grips with it when they changed the system, but you are allowed to have a good goalkeeper.

"Marcus took his goal brilliantly and the pass from Paul Pogba was half of the goal.

"When you have the pace of Anthony Martial and Rashford, and the cleverness of Pogba and Jesse Lingard, the plan was to attack with pace.
