Manchester United's Juan Mata admits he is unsure where he will be playing next season - but says he is "calm" about the situation.
The Spain international will be out of contract in the summer, having been at Old Trafford since January 2014.
The attacking midfielder is now able to discuss terms with non-English clubs, ahead of a potential free transfer in the summer.
But the 30-year-old could yet agree a new deal with United, who appear to be on the up under caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Mata was in Madrid on Thursday to receive a special award from the Queen of Spain for his charity work.
"I've been in England for a while, but it's true that at times you miss home, your family, your friends," he told AS.
"But I don't know if I'll return to Spain in the near future. I'm calm, I'm at the fantastic club that is Manchester United, one of the biggest in the world."
Meanwhile, Mata thinks United could end a turbulent campaign on a good note if they can force their way into the top four.
"We are focused on finishing the season as well as possible and reaching our goal of a place in the Champions League," he added.
"We would like to have other objectives but that is the reality. A coach came in who is a club legend and has give us confidence.
"I am sure there will be difficult times between now and the end of the season but we will give our all."
