Former Everton striker Kevin Campbell has backed Romelu Lukaku to be a success at Manchester United.

The Belgium international is on the verge of moving to Old Trafford in a deal worth up to £90m after undergoing a medical in Los Angeles.

Former Toffees striker Campbell believes there are aspects of Lukaku's game which can be improved but he has backed the 24-year-old to ultimately be a success.

"His attributes will suit the style of play and the players at Manchester United," he told Sky Sports News HQ.

"He's quick, strong and very direct, I see him getting among the goals very quickly.

"There's a lot more to the game when you play football at Manchester United though, he's going to have to be a good link-up player, lead the line very well and those are things Jose Mourinho will help him improve on.

"When you play at Manchester United and other big clubs in the Champions League you've got to be right on point. He's going to have to improve his game and I'm sure he will."

And Campbell believes the two deals represent good business for both clubs.

He added: "I don't think losing Lukaku is a big loss to Everton because they've conducted their transfer business very well this summer.

"Signing a player with Lukaku's goal-scoring record is obviously a good gain for United, too."
