Manchester United legends produced an impressive display to beat their Barcelona counterparts 3-1 at the Nou Camp on Friday night.
The United greats have established a handy lead ahead of the return leg at Old Trafford in September, thanks to goals from Jesper Blomqvist (14), Karel Poborsky (57) and Dwight Yorke (77).
At the other end, a star-studded Barcelona attack featuring Ronaldinho and Rivaldo produced some scintillating football, but the hosts were unable to find the net until Frederic Dehu managed to pull a goal back in the final minute.
Raimond van der Gouw was in goal for United in a match which raised money for the PCCB (Pediatric Cancer Centre Barcelona).
And van der Gouw produced a decent early save to keep out a Ronaldinho free-kick.
But United then took the lead, Blomqvist finding the net at the second time of asking after Miguel Angel Nadal had cleared his first shot off the line, only for Yorke to regain possession and tee up his Swedish team mate.
Man of the match Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and Patrick Kluivert created plenty of chances for Barca but the hosts could not quite get a breakthrough, Rivaldo thrilling the fans at one point with a 'rabona' effort which went just wide.
United were 2-0 up by then, Poborsky having scored with a deflected shot after good work from Yorke and Park Ji-sung.
And Yorke then scored a fantastic goal to make it 3-0, receiving from Danny Webber and then conjuring up a delightful curling shot which went in off the post.
Barca had the final say when Dehu produced a calm finish and the second leg, which will raise money for the Manchester United Foundation's work, will be on September 2.
