Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica for a fee of around 30m pounds

Victor Lindelof has arrived at Manchester United for a medical as part of his transfer from Benfica.

The 22-year-old was due to undergo the examination at the club's Carrington training base after flying into Manchester on Wednesday morning.

The Portuguese club have confirmed United will pay £30.7m (€35m) to sign the Sweden international, with a further £8.8m (€10m) payable based on performance incentives.

Sky Sports News HQ revealed in May that Jose Mourinho was planning on signing a central defender this summer and had identified Lindelof, Michael Keane and Virgil van Dijk as his three main targets.

United have had a long-standing interest in Lindelof, but decided against making a move for him in January due to the upturn in their form and the return to fitness of a number of their central defenders.
