A dispute between Benfica and Vasteras SK over a sell-on clause for Manchester United target Victor Lindelof is close to a resolution, according to the Swedish club's chairman.
Reports in Portugal claim Vasteras SK are entitled to 20 per cent of any transfer fee for their former player, while an outstanding payment of £214,000 has proved to be an additional stumbling block.
United boss Jose Mourinho wanted to sign Sweden international Lindeloff for defensive cover, but said on Friday that he no longer needs another centre-back after the recovery of Eric Bailly and an upturn in the form of other defenders.
Despite a deal for Lindelof being unlikely this month, Vasteras SK chairman Bengt-Ake Nilsson says he is optimistic of an agreement with Benfica.
"We have hopes," Nilsson told Swedish paper Expressen. "They have increased after we made contact with Benfica.
"We hope that this will resolve itself in the near future. Now there is enough interest from both ourselves and the Benfica side that [we can] quickly come to a solution."
