Zlatan Ibrahimovic wishes his 25-year-old self could have had his current mindset so he could have been "even more phenomenal".
The 35-year-old Swedish star has scored goals and won titles all over Europe during a glittering career.
But he feels his game has evolved with age and wishes he could combine the experience he has accumulated with the athleticism he possessed in his younger days.
"I think I play much more intelligently now because, of course, you change a lot during the years," Ibrahimovic said.
"You get a different physique; you get a different condition, strengths and experiences. But I wish I had the mind that I have today 10 years ago, because then I will be even more phenomenal."
Ibrahimovic has scored eight goals in 14 Premier League games for United this season.
Jose Mourinho made signing the veteran striker a priority after succeeding Louis van Gaal and has already indicated he intends to trigger an option to keep Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford next season.
Ibrahimovic says he has become less focused on scoring goals and instead has learned to adapt his game to help the rest of the team.
"I try to help in every way I can with my experience and the goals will come," Ibrahimovic said. "I try to help in many ways without the ball, with the ball, with movements, by communicating, by sacrificing.
"It is part of the game and as a player I want to be as complete as possible, so this is one of the things I have been trying to do."
Ibrahimovic has acted as a mentor to younger United players such as Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial since arriving and it is a role he has embraced.
"Goals are extra, a bonus let's say," Ibrahimovic said. "If I score then I help the team, but I think I can help in many ways and this is the experience thing.
"Marcus is a young player, his career has just begun and I am towards the end of my career."
