Jose Mourinho will kick-off his reign as Manchester United manager with a pre-season friendly against Wigan Athletic later this month.
Mourinho, who faced the press for the first time as United boss on Tuesday, will see his new side in action for the first time against the Championship side at the DW Stadium on Saturday July 16.
"The first game against Wigan is very important as I am going to have some players I don't know very well who I am bringing into the first team," Mourinho told United's website.
"I don't know them well but I just trust Nicky Butt [head of academy] and John Murtough [head of football development] and the youth structure's judgement.
"Obviously I am going to work closely with them and I'm going to have to trust them when they say we have a few players who, in a couple of years, can be first-team players. It's important to know them and give them the opportunity to work."
Mourinho's team tackle Galatasaray in Gothenburg on July 30 before Wayne Rooney's testimonial match against Everton on August 3.
United will then take on Premier League champions Leicester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on Sunday August 7.
