Former Manchester United forward Bebe cost the club £165,000 a minute, according to documents released by whistle-blowing website Football Leaks.
United have refused to comment on the documents which claim to show how much the club paid its players in bonuses in the 2009/10 season.
The documents show Bebe was paid £900,000 a year in wages and given another £500,000 as a signing-on fee after joining in a £7.4m deal in August 2010, meaning he cost United £165,000 for each of the 75 Premier League minutes he played for the club.
Bebe was eventually sent on loan to Besiktas, Rio Ave and Pacos de Ferreira before being sold to Benfica in 2014 for £2.3m.
The documents also show how £5.25m in bonuses were paid out by the club for winning the Premier League and finishing runners-up in the Champions League - where they lost 3-1 to Barcelona in the final at Wembley.
There was a further £1m available for winning the FA Cup and £500,000 for the League Cup.
