Michael Carrick is in contention to play in Manchester United's FA Cup fourth round clash at Derby on Friday.
The 34-year-old England midfielder has not played since the win over Swansea on January 2, where he made a late substitute appearance.
Manager Louis van Gaal confirmed that Matteo Darmian will not be available after the right-back sustained chest and rib problems in the defeat to Southampton.
And he could not assure supporters that Bastian Schweinsteiger or Phil Jones are fit to return to action.
Van Gaal said: "It's very good Carrick is coming back. Darmian will miss out.
"I cannot say [if Bastian or Phil are close]. Every time I make a remark about injuries it is always difficult because injuries have developments and you have to wait and see."
