Opta statistics from Monday's Premier League games

We pick out the best of the Opta statistics from Monday's Premier League games.

Stoke's 4-3 win at Everton was the most exciting of the matches with Xherdan Shaqiri starring and Romelu Lukaku breaking more records for the home side at Goodison Park.

Elsewhere, there were goals for Odion Ighalo and Darren Fletcher as well as a significant assist for Wes Hoolahan.

Crystal Palace mustered just two shots on target in this game, Swansea had three.

The Eagles have won only one of their last nine league matches against Swansea (W1 D4 L4).

The Swans have conceded only three goals in their last nine league games against Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace have failed to win their final league game in each of the last four years, with three of those being draws.

Swansea have won just one of their last 11 Premier League trips to London (W1 D4 L6).

Alan Pardew has picked up just nine points in nine previous Premier League encounters with Swansea City (W2 D3 L4).

Swansea have won just one of their last 10 Premier League away games, losing six of these (D3).

Everton 3-4 Stoke City

This is only the second 4-3 defeat at Goodison Park for Everton in Premier League history, the first was in February 2004 against Manchester United.

Romelu Lukaku has scored eight goals in his last seven Premier League appearances at Goodison Park after a run of just one goal in his previous 14 appearances there.

Marko Arnautovic's late penalty earns thrilling win for the Potters.

The Belgian has scored the most goals in all competitions by a Premier League player this season (18).

Lukaku has scored 40 Premier League goals for Everton, only the fifth Everton player to reach that mark.

Xherdan Shaqiri scored his first and second goals for Stoke and his first in the league since scoring for Inter Milan last February.

Shaqiri is the first Stoke player to score two in an away Premier League game since Peter Crouch in January 2012.

Ross Barkley is the leading Englishman for assists in the Premier League this season (7).

Stoke conceded more than two goals in a game for the first time this season. But they did score 20 per cent of their Premier League goals tally in this game (four of 20).

Everton however have let in 12 in their last six Premier League games.

Norwich City 2-0 Aston Villa

Norwich won their final league game in a calendar year for the first time since 2010.

Villa are without a win in 18 matches (D5 L13); extending their longest ever winless run in their league history.

Goals from Jonny Howson and Dieumerci Mbokani were enough to give Norwich victory over Aston Villa.

Norwich have won as many Premier League games in their last three as they did in their previous 14 combined (2).

Only Sunderland (six in 05-06) and Derby (seven in 07-08) have had fewer points at the halfway stage than Villa this season.

Since winning away at Bournemouth on the first weekend of the season, Aston Villa have picked up just two points in nine Premier League away games in 2015-16 (D2 L7).

Wes Hoolahan has now provided more assists for Norwich City than any other player in Premier League history (17).

The Canaries have scored in all but two of their 28 league meetings with Aston Villa at home.

Villa have now gone nine games without a Premier League clean sheet away from home and have kept just one clean sheet in their last 18 Premier League games overall.

Watford 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are undefeated in their last eight competitive games against Watford (W6 D2).

Spurs have not lost their final league game of a calendar year since 2008.

Substitute Heung-Min Son struck a dramatic late winner to give Spurs a win over 10-man Watford.

Spurs have lost just one of their last 18 Premier League matches, winning nine (D8).

The Hornets scored with their only shot on target.

Odion Ighalo has scored more league goals in 2015 than any other player in England's top four tiers (30).

Indeed, Ighalo has found the back of the net in six successive top-flight games - the only Watford player to achieve this feat.

Erik Lamela has scored four goals in his last five games in all competitions for Tottenham.

Harry Kane provided his first Premier League assist of the season and his first in 23 appearances

West Bromwich Albion 1-0 Newcastle United

This was only the third time in 29 league games that Newcastle had failed to score versus West Brom.

The Magpies have failed to score in 10 of their last 15 Premier League away games.

Stand-in Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow had a Premier League debut to forget at the Hawthorns.

Albion had 22 shots, which is 12 per cent of their entire total in the Premier League this season.

West Brom's 22 shots is seven more than they have managed in any other Premier League game this season.

After this game Newcastle now have the fewest shots in the Premier League this season (171, overtaken by West Brom on 177)

Darren Fletcher scored his 20th Premier League goal (two for West Brom, 18 for Man Utd).

Newcastle managed only one shot on target in each half.

West Brom kept their first clean sheet since October 24 (vs Norwich), ending a run of eight without one.

Arsenal 2-0 Bournemouth

Petr Cech recorded his 170th Premier League clean sheet, surpassing David James' long-standing record.

Mesut Ozil set up one and scored another as Arsenal moved top of the Premier League.

The Gunners are unbeaten in their last 22 Premier League meetings with newly-promoted opposition (W18 D4).

Arsenal have scored in each of their last 30 Premier League games against newly-promoted opposition.

Mesut Ozil recorded his 16th assist of the season, only four short of the Premier League record (20 by Thierry Henry in 2002-03)

Ozil created all six goalscoring chances Arsenal had in the first half. He created nine goalscoring chances in this game, more than any other player in a single Premier League game this season.

This was Bournemouth's first defeat in seven Premier League games.

Eight of the Cherries' 10 shots came in the second half.

Manchester United 0-0 Chelsea

Manchester United have now gone eight games without victory in all competitions, their worst run since January 1990 (also eight games).

Five of Manchester United's last eight games at Old Trafford in all competitions have ended goalless. Van Gaal has overseen 11 goalless draws as Manchester United boss, six of those coming since the end of October.

United produced an improved performance but couldn't score against Chelsea.

Guus Hiddink hasn't lost any of his last five competitive contests with Louis Van Gaal (W4 D1).

Hiddink has dropped four points in two games as Chelsea boss this season, only one fewer than he did in 13 games in 2008-09.

The last four fixtures between these two sides at Old Trafford in the Premier League have produced just three goals in total.

Manchester United have kept a clean sheet in their final Premier League game of 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The Red Devils have kept seven clean sheets and conceded just three goals in their nine Premier League home games in 2015-16.

The Blues are unbeaten in their last six Premier League meetings with Man Utd (W3 D3).

This is United's lowest points total after 19 games of a league season since 1990.

West Ham United 2-1 Southampton

West Ham are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League home games, but four of these have been draws (W3 D4 L0).

Andy Carroll and Michail Antonio seal comeback win for West Ham.

Southampton have won just two of their last 16 Premier League away games (W2 D5 L9), netting just 12 goals in this run.

Both of Andy Carroll's Premier League goals this season have been headers in the 79th minute in 2-1 home wins.

Southampton have collected just four points in their last seven Premier League games, three of them against current league leaders Arsenal.

West Ham are unbeaten in their last six games (W1 D5).

Ten of West Ham's 13 shots in this game came in the second half.
