As part of Support The Ref week on Sky Sports, Ryan Mason and Laura Bassett visited Stockley Park to try out VAR.
Former Spurs and Hull midfielder Mason joined England defender Bassett at the VAR match centre, taking part in real-life Video Assistant Referee situations, using the same communication and viewing tools used by the PGMO.
With hot debate surrounding VAR at present, after mixed opinions on its use so far in English football, Mason and Bassett sought to discover just what referees are looking for, and how smoothly it can run.
Following trials in FA Cup and Carabao Cup games this season, VAR has been met by some criticism with Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino saying he fears the technology could kill emotion in the game.
VAR will be used at this summer's World Cup in Russia, FIFA confirmed last week.
