Jose Mourinho said Antonio Conte disappeared as he waited to shake his hand following Manchester United's 1-0 defeat away to Chelsea on Super Sunday.
Conte celebrated with his staff and then players as Mourinho waited, and instead, the former Blues boss shook hands with other members of Chelsea's staff.
Asked if he eventually got to shake Conte's hand, Mourinho said: "No. He disappeared. So I shook his assistants, which for me is basically the same.
"You want me to go and chase him in the middle of the pitch? I was there. I shook hands with the people who were there. I think one of them was his brother, the assistant, so I feel that, by shaking the hands of his brother and the other assistants, I did my duty."
Conte said of the incident: "It's not important. It's important to win the game. You have to have respect on the pitch.
"At the end of the match, I went to shake the hands of the officials and then my players. If I shake someone's hand twice, I think it's enough."
It was another unhappy ending for Mourinho on his return to Stamford Bridge as Alvaro Morata's 55th-minute header sealed a 1-0 win for Chelsea over United, who fell eight points behind league leaders Manchester City.
