We look back to March 2002 when Southampton earned a 2-2 draw against Leicester thanks to a late Marian Pahars penalty

Ahead of their meeting on Nissan Super Sunday, we take a look at Southampton's 2-2 draw with Leicester from the Premier League Vault.

The two sides met in March 2002 as they competed in the Premiership, playing out the exciting result at the then-newly constructed St Mary's.

It was a tale of two scorers, with Leicester striker Brian Deane giving the visiting side the lead in the 21st minute before adding a quick second four minutes later to see the Foxes race ahead.

But Marian Pahars pulled one back for the home side in the 29th minute in what was a thrilling first half of action.

There were fewer goals in the second 45 minutes as Leicester looked to be on their way to victory, but Pahars popped up again in the 87th minute to dispatch a penalty past goalkeeper Ian Walker to snatch a point for Southampton.
