Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool must "develop a lot" after their 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Anfield.

Liverpool saved a point through Christian Benteke's injury-time goal, having fallen behind to Eden Hazard's stunner in the first half.

It has been an indifferent season for Liverpool domestically, though they do have a Europa League final to come against Sevilla on May 18, and Klopp admits his side must improve ahead of his first pre-season with the club.

Klopp told Sky Sports: "It was the most important game for us this season to be honest. The first 15 minutes we were brilliant, but after 16 minutes we lost patience, we lost formation because we lost patience, and that's the problem.

"In a game like this the crowd force you, when you need to be patient, everybody shouts: 'Go, go!' and you say: 'Where am I going to go?'. We have to develop a lot. Tonight a point is okay."

"We didn't start the second half much better, then we got more patient in mind but tired in legs."

Klopp says Liverpool deserved the draw, despite Simon Mignolet keeping his side in the game on many occasions, saving numerous times from compatriot Hazard.

"Everybody can see that if Eden Hazard plays like this for the whole season then Chelsea would be, I don't know, wherever.

"We deserved in the end our goal. That they didn't score more often we thank Simon Mignolet. How we played the first 15 minutes showed what we are capable of, but how we played after that showed that we don't trust ourselves."

Liverpool can still finish seventh if they beat West Brom at the Hawthorns and Southampton lose at home to Crystal Palace.

Asked if he has enjoyed his first season at Anfield, the German said: "Yes, it's a nice place, a world class club, I enjoy it to be honest."
