West Ham United captain Mark Noble believes it was "written in the stars" that the Hammers would win their last game at the Boleyn Ground with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Manchester United.
Goals from Diafra Sakho, Michail Antonio and Winston Reid handed West Ham all three points as they said a farewell to their home since 1904.
Noble, the longest serving player in the squad, said: "It was written in the stars tonight to be honest. Three fantastic goals, and just pure determination and the will not to lose.
"We fought hard, they are a great team, Manchester United, they make the pitch so big, they make you run a lot. I'm just so proud of the players. Tonight they were phenomenal."
The captain feels this team under Slaven Bilic are not like old West Ham teams and have a belief that they will take to the Olympic Stadium next season.
"With this team this season, I don't ever feel like we are ever going to lose, apart from Saturday when we were 4-2 down with two minutes to play, but we have just got that spirit that we are never out of the game.
"Going 2-1 down to Manchester United is always tough and years gone by we would have lost that game but tonight, as I said, I think it was written in the stars for this fantastic place."
The honour of scoring the last goal at the ground fell to the unlikely figure of Reid and he found it hard to believe, especially as the defender hasn't scored for a year-and-a-half.
"No is the short answer," Reid said when asked if he would have backed himself to get the last ever goal at the Boleyn.
"It was just meant to be, it was one of those evenings for us, a special occasion for the whole club. To finish with victory against a magnificent team like Manchester United is brilliant for us."
The occasion in the stadium was something that Reid will remember for a long time.
"It's probably the best atmosphere I have ever played in to be honest. Even the build-up, we couldn't get down the road because of all the fans."
"The fans have been through us in good times and bad times and it's nice to finish off the era this way."
West Ham are now only a point off Manchester United with their final game away to Stoke on Sunday.
