West Brom head coach Tony Pulis has dismissed the obsession with football philosophies and warned new managers to focus on results.
The word 'philosophy' is increasingly being attributed to new bosses and coaches in the game, with Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal famous for his teams' strategies and mindset.
The 63-year-old Pulis, whose side play at Liverpool on Sunday, told the Daily Star Sunday: "I had a call this week from a young manager saying it was his first job, he wanted to do this and that and needed to get his philosophy across.
"So I stopped him and told him, "Forget about philosophies - you've got to win a few games, mate'.
"To do that you must find out the team's strengths and play to them. You need to cut out all the other nonsense, go back to basics and win games.
"If you're a manager in the Premier League the pressure is enormous because if you don't win matches, you'll not be there very long.
"In our industry everything is about those 90 minutes and getting three points. It's as simple as that."
