Season review

Burnley returned to the top flight once more in hope rather than expectation given that they did not have the budget of some of their rivals. But the Clarets came back as an improved outfit having learned from their previous stint in the Premier League.

In fact, they survived with a bit to spare thanks in large part to some strong displays at Turf Moor. Liverpool, Everton and Leicester were among those beaten in front of Burnley's own fans - the latter victory being their seventh consecutive home win in all competitions.

It was tougher for Dyche's men on their travels, having to wait until the trip to Crystal Palace in April for the first away win. Star defender Michael Keane might end up moving on but Burnley have a strong core and will now hope this is the start of a long stay in the top flight.

EXPERT ANALYSIS - MATT LE TISSIER

Managerial review

Sean Dyche has done a terrific job given the budget of Burnley. They're an unbelievably well-organised side and very well drilled with what they're about and their home form has been nothing short of sensational. When you look at that squad you just have to have admiration for his work.

Player of the season: Michael Keane

I think I'd go with Michael Keane. Tom Heaton has also had a good season. Sam Vokes has done well too, but I think Keane's performances have impressed me the most.

2017/18 prospects

In terms of what they need to improve on, it stands out like a sore thumb what they've got to do and that's get better results on the road. I know it's tough to get away wins in the Premier League but they need to find a slightly different system which is going to give them a chance of scoring more goals on the road.
