Dirk Kuyt could be set to take charge at Feyenoord - and the Dutchman says he is following the example set by Steven Gerrard.
The pair were team-mates in their playing days at Liverpool and are now embarking on careers in management.
It has long been suggested that Gerrard could manage Liverpool one day, but he began his coaching career in the Liverpool academy, before taking charge at Scottish Premiership side Rangers.
And Kuyt could be poised to take charge at Feyenoord at the end of the season - having seemingly made a good impression with his work coaching the youth team.
He told The Mirror: "We all choose our own path and on the way you have to find out if you are capable of doing the job.
"When Steven Gerrard had only just become a youth coach at Liverpool, after his retirement, we spoke about the road he was going to follow.
"Steven was absolutely determined to leave Liverpool for a while.
"He wanted to develop himself as a manager and coach away from the spotlight of the Premier League. It meant he had to leave England.
"Glasgow Rangers is a massive club. It will be Steven's dream to become Liverpool manager one day.
"But to get there he is very much following his own path."
