Manchester City have opened talks with Aymeric Laporte over a new contract, according to Sky sources.
Laporte joined the club from Athletic Bilbao for £57m in January 2018, signing a contract until 2023.
The 24-year-old has been a key member of Pep Guardiola's side this season, making 35 appearances in all competitions, and the club are keen to offer him fresh terms.
Laporte is part of the City squad which has travelled to face Schalke in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The defender has scored four goals this season, two in the Champions League, and has formed an impressive partnership with John Stones at the back.
After City's visit to Gelsenkirchen in midweek they face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday, live on Sky Sports.
