Thierry Henry is no longer under consideration to be the next Aston Villa manager and is now a leading contender to take charge at Monaco, according to Sky sources.

It is understood the former Arsenal forward held initial talks with the Sky Bet Championship club, but it was decided the circumstances were not right for either party.

Henry could now instead move to Monaco, the club where he began his professional playing career.
